Desiccare, Inc.’s Molecular Sieves for Optimum Absorbing Solutions
Molecular sieves are a synthetically manufactured version of Zeolite and feature an intricate network of pores and empty cavities, giving it exceptional adsorbing properties. However, it is the smaller molecules that have a high absorption capacity. While a molecular sieve has the fastest absorption rate among desiccants, it is also costlier than other desiccants. It is usually drawn from sodium potassium or calcium alumina silicate and is available in a desiccant pack. Molecular sieves have an opaque pinkish appearance and come in the form of beads.
Molecular sieves absorb matter up to 20% of their own weight. Hence they can either be used by themselves or be blended with other desiccants to expand their area of application. They have the capability to bring down the relative humidity to as low as 10% when used in proper packaging. While molecular sieves are available in the USA, they are more widely used in Europe in pharmaceutical applications.
At Desiccare Inc, we offer molecular sieves in different pore sizes (measured in Angstroms). Our offerings range from 3A, 4A, 5A, 8A, 10A and more. Each of these different pore sizes is suitable for specific applications. Here’s a quick look:
*3A Molecular Sieve:
It’s suitable for drying certain types of gases and it adsorbs NH3 as well as water.
*4A Molecular Sieve:
It shows exceptional absorption properties for water, carbon dioxide, SO2, H2S, C2H4, C3H6 among some other gases. It is used extensively as an absorption material for carbon dioxide.
*5A Molecular Sieve:
It soaks up regular hydrocarbons as well as other chemicals such as alcohols, mercaptans (thiols).
*8A Molecular Sieve (also known as 10X):
It is used widely for absorbing aromatics without leaving a trace. It is also suitable for branched hydrocarbons.
*10A Molecular Sieve:
Is highly capable soaking up carbon dioxide as well as water. This makes it especially suitable for use during pre-purification treatment of water.
